Inner Metamorphosis explores the evolution of the human being's inner transformations as we move through contrasting situations within the course of a single day, as well as through the broader cycles of life.
Such transformations also occur throughout the natural world, the animal kingdom, the cosmos, as well as in literature and mythology. The life cycle of a planet, the metamorphosis of a firefly, the growth of a plant—all unfold through distinct phases that may be transitional or more enduring. Likewise, our inner world is in a constant state of change, undergoing continuous and multifaceted transformations, even within the span of a single moment. These metamorphoses may be dark, rapid, formless, explosive, slow, paradoxical, involuntary, violent, or striking, gradually leading, through successive emotional shifts, toward a state of psychological wholeness and balance, until the emergence of new cycles once again.
During the creation of this work, I was deeply influenced by the decisive role that light plays in shaping our awareness of the transformations we experience, as well as our perception of their intensity and evolution. Light profoundly affects the way we experience movement, emotion, and existence itself. Variations in its intensity, color, and angle can alter our emotional state, while, in combination with the presence of wind or other natural phenomena, they can dramatically reshape our psychological landscape.
Yet the most remarkable aspect is that our inner core ultimately endures. Despite every transformation we undergo, it is never lost. Within the work, this enduring core is symbolized by the original motif and the forms it gradually assumes. It transforms, evolves, and reappears in countless ways. Whether clearly recognizable or profoundly altered, the core remains present, sustaining the functions, principles, and essential nature of our being.
